Centrepins
Centrepins
I have used a centrepin reel once or twice (my father's) but unfortunately I do not own one.
Can anyone recommend a good quality pin that can be used daily for long trotting for roach, chub, barbel and can also be used for stalking carp in the margins.
I am happy to pay up to £100 for the right reel. I know that isn't a lot when considering pins but we all have a budget unfortunately

Check these out Tony, not old or traditional but for general use they are great. Martin James uses a pair of these......

Re: Centrepins
You'll get a speedia for less than a ton I'd imagine, or a trudex. They're both brilliant reels. If you're wanting a long trotting reel, i'd suggest something with a 4 and a half inch drum. Makes life a little easier! If you can't wallis cast, and want to learn I'd recommend a grice and youngs matchmaker or similar. I learnt on that, and although it is my cheapest reel, I can usually get an extra few yards with it, and it's really user friendly. There's a lot of overpriced reels out there, as well as some right bargains. Sweets reel looks like it's worth a look. Personally i really dislike bearing centerpins, like adcock stantons. I dunno why, just don't like them.

Re: Centrepins
I have quite a lot of centrepin reels [at least thats what 'er indoors says] I suggest to her they are just an investment!!
Suggest you look for a wide drum [if possible] Speedia. Will cost between £35 and £60 ish.
If your lucky and have one that isn't too worn on the spindle it will last you for years. Don't worry too much if the paint is poor. [If you get one in this state email me]
