Mr Bob Brookes (dream maker)

Yesterday I fished with Mr Bob Brookes, expert angler, barbel guru and one of the nicest chaps you could ever wish to meet. I fished at his invitation following a comment I made recently about wanting to beat my barbel PB. Under Bobs tutelage I did just that, in fact I did it 4 times plus two bonus chub! At Bobs suggestion, I used my Sharpes Scottie salmon spinning rod which Bob also uses and although a very strong rod did not seem too powerful for the task in hand given the conditions which prevailed (I really did "Bend Some Cane" Andy!). I was fortunate enough to acquire this rod from Berisford (thanks Tim) who let me have the rod for a very reasonable price and what a way to christen it, 4 barbel and 2 chub!! This really was a red letter day and the highlight of my angling career to date.

The fish were all between 4-6lbs if memory serves correct, so not huge but hard fighting and certainly larger than my first barbel of last season.
Thank you so much Bob for making my dream come true![Hat Off :Hat:](./images/smilies/icon_takehatoff.gif)
