Fishing for a year - Jack Hargreaves.

Post by Snape »

A lovely gentle account of fishing throughout the end by one of the gentlemen of country living.

Medlar press publish it and it is well worth a read.

Of course those of us of a particular age can never forget his TV series 'out of town'
“Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers,” Herbert Hoover.

This is a book I must purchase.

What a lovely theme tune to the program as well. I can remember our music teacher at school Mr. White, he use to play it on his guitar.

I purchased the 3rd edition by Medlar Press (they did the 2nd edition as well) and I am half way through the book. What a lovely read this is so far, highly recommended. :thumb:

Definitely a classic. I can just remember his TV programmes when they were first shown.

Just started reading this book and only read the first chapter fly fishing for dace and though i'm not a fly fisher its going to be a wonderful book to read obviously not all about fly fishing but enjoying it very much so far

Edit :

I mean the chapter is about fly fishing for dace the chapter is called "June and the merry dace" which sounds a wonderful chapter

It is a lovely read Loop, when you are reading it try and hear Jack voice in your head as if he is reading it to you.
