Sheffield and Tinsley: what's in it?

There are a number of locks between the start of the canal in Sheffield Victoria Basin and where it joins the Don to make the S Yorks Navigation. It has two series of locks, one, at Tinsley to raise the level from the river and a second, at Carbrook, to gain the necessary height for a level flow into the city centre. This second sequence of six locks known as the Tinsley Flight (locks 1-6 as the locks are numbered from the city end not the Don end) has quite large inter-lock pounds which are more like round ponds, as you can see here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.40564 ... a=!3m1!1e3, 1-2 and 2-3 have narrow boat moorings in them which provide an indication of scale, but it's in 3-6 that most of the fishing takes place. The well-known 'Plumpers' stretch (named after a pub that used to be at the Northern end) is between 6 and 7/8 and 9-12 start near Meadowhall Centre and connect to the Don https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.41516 ... a=!3m1!1e3.

CRT has been doing a lot of work on replacing lock gates in the last few years which has meant draining some pounds and they've electro-fished them and transferred the fish between pounds. It wasn't exactly clear which pounds had been cleared and where the fish had been taken so I asked the CRT for details and got the reply below which casts a fascinating light on what's actually in the canal:

Tinsley pound 6 to 7 moved to pound 5 to 6
340lb
carp - 18lb x 12
Bream - 2lb x 12
Roach pike perch

pound 7 to 8 moved to pound 5 to 6
240lb
Carp X3 - 21lb
Roach, few bream - 3lb and pike -12lb

pound 9 to 10 moved to pound 11to 12
720lb
21 carp -25lb
Pike - 14 lb
Roach -12oz
Bream to 3lb
Ruffe
Gudgeon
Few Eels 2lb
