I have just brought this rod what reel would you recommend and what line Weight would you use. What does dt mean I know wf means weight forward.

DT means double taper. IE the line goes from thin to thick and back to thin. This means you can use either end to fish with, and still get good turn over.

If there is a line rating on the side this will help. Otherwise try a few different lines until the rod feels right. It will also depend upon how far you want to cast and your casting style.

I'm guessing it will be circa a 3 or 4 weight rod.

Line weights are a funny old thing as they are based on the first 30 feet of line. So if you are making short casts you can probably go up a weight. What length is the rod? Although there is no hard and fast rule my guess would be a five weight for a rod of eight feet or more, under eight feet I'd do as OMO suggests and try a four weight and see how you get on.

I don't mean to be funny but its a fly rod unless of course you meant you intend to only fly fish for course fish ( which is what I do).
Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick. :Hat:

At eight foot I would be looking for a 3 inch reel. JW Youngs Pridex look the part and are reasonably priced... :Hat:

I have a RimFly Lightweight at 3 1/4" I paid £6 and it's mint, boxed. You can pay an awful lot more for reels from the likes of Hardy or Orvis but most of the time with small course fish you won't need to play the fish off the reel so it doesn't need to be anything fancy or expensive.
