Wierd Waders

Post by The Sweetcorn Kid »

A friend recently gave me these, they look rather funky.

Anyone know much about them? Look like waders but without boots.

They are waders but need a pair of wading boots

Like Snape said, stocking foot waders, you wear boots with them. You don't need specifically designed 'wading boots' any will do but must be a size too big so they fit over the booties. I used to wear a pair of old trainers at one time. You only really need felt soled wading boots if you're wading swift, rocky rivers. Get yourself some boots, even if you don't wade they'll make great waterproofs, if you watch anything with John Bailey you'll notice he wears them all the time whether wading or not... :Hat:

Ah splendid, they'll come in handy then. Loving the old style braces fastening. :Thumb:

Buy the ex army jungle boots- cheap and they dry quickly! you must get them a size or two above normal shoe size.

I bought a pair of breathable stocking foot waders and boots in 1999 and they completely revolutionised my fishing. All of a sudden I could walk as many miles as I wanted, in utter comfort and any weathers (from the hottest to the coldest), and get in and out of the river at will right up to my chest. They're not as waterproof for wading now as they were then (so I did replace them) but those old ones I still wear for bank fishing for all the same reasons.

Punch a few holes in your boots SK to let the water out easily after wading or they can get a tad heavy.

I find stocking foot waders much more comfortable than waders with welly boots attached.
