Congratulations Mal, I'm sure you will enjoy it

Very nice. Nothing wrong with a drink at 10.00am in the morning every now and again.
My retirement dream is to be mooching about in my jimjams, slippers and dressing gown at 8.00am with a glass of champagne in my hand
( why else would I be pulling 14 hour days with 5 hours sleep a night and completely tee total and no bloody fishing) lol.

The rod arrived safely this afternoon, and is exactly as the vendor described and will be stripped and rebuilt over the next couple of weeks. There is a slight downward curve to the tip (which I knew about), but this will simply be solve by the usual reversing of the guides.
What has been fascinating is comparing the rod to the other two precision Rods all split cane 11ft rods I have, but I will post about the taper comparisons in a separate thread.

Re: I don't often imbibe gin at 10 am ...
New intermediate guides have arrived from Chapman's ... and a little bit of effort has the rod stripped ... the handle cleaned ... and the butt section re-whipped in the original colours (I was able to source some black/yellow jasper twist from the USA a few weeks ago) and sealed. It will get it's first coat of varnish tomorrow, and while it dries I'll be getting on with the other two sections.
