Any Ideas?

Post by Kingfisher »

This had been floating around the Bay for a couple of weeks, so I made an offer and it was accepted. It was described as a fly rod but I have my doubts after seeing it in the flesh.

Butt and mid sections are 38 inches and the tip section is 37 inches making the whole rod 9ft 5 inches.

It looks a bit beefy, it's straight as a die and hasn't been restored by the looks of it. Whipping is all black, with inters every half inch throughout the rods length. There is just the Millwards emblem and nothing else.

I did think it may be a three sectioned pike versa but I'd like other peoples views please.

Many thanks Chaps. :Hat:

Oh and I also have a new fishing hat, the seller threw the hat in and said it was found along with the rod, they used to be her GrandFather's.

No idea about the rod I'm afraid, but I do like that hat!

Funny what takes our fancy :Hat:

I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Unfortunately I have an unusually small head so rarely get lucky with hats.
Spotted one of those Australian leather hats at the boot sale Sunday, put it on, it looked like I was wearing a kids paddling pool on my head!!

Well LL, you know how it is in the animal kingdom, the bigger the head the smaller the brain and vice versa, or so they say.

Reguarding this Rod, does anybody happen to have a millwards catalogue they may be able to identify it from please? I'm itching to find out what it is I've bought. :Hat:

With a tip ring like that (Tulip?) its a spinning rod, probably aimed at salmon so will be capable of landing pike or carp. It may have been intended for use with a multiplier and used upside down hence the 'upward' set there appears to be in the tip looking at the top picture.
