Trad all the way you can't have a modern cane :Thumb:

I've just made myself one, but have no pics yet. I made it from an old split cane boat rod and the butt of a broken Marco Test. For the handle I left part of the boat rod handle on; it's turned wood painted black; and for where the rest of the handle was I've wrapped cork tape around to make a thinner section to grip. The total lenght of the handle is about 7' and I'm really chuffed with it. I whipped on blue intermediates and it looks very trad!

But I agree with Paul D, your modern handle looks much better and more practical!

Not sure if it was ever traditional to have a cork grip on a cane landing net handle but I do think they look better with a slender cork grip of around 12 inches myself..

Annoyingly I had to make my handle part longer to cover up where the split cane had been rounded off when the boat rod was manufactured. But I think the cork tape works well. I'll try to post a pic at the weekend (1st outing for it then)
