Just picked up a Marco Avon in need of total restoration.
Almost complete transfer

Original red whipping

Previous owner used twist on the butt ring and blue on the tip section

Will need the ferrules re glued and the tip section one replaced

Now for the best bit
The previous owner fitted this ??????????????

I guess there's no accounting for taste..

That cork handle has the grime , or should that be slime , of ages on it . A good scrub with fairy liquid should bring it up a treat!. Whippings excepted it looks like a fine rod .

I think it is a modern foam handle :shocked:

The rod,s stripped, cleaned of all the old varnish and one coat applied ready for the ring,s to be fitted.

Handle cork made ready to glue..
