Simple Bobbins ?

Post by Barbulus »

I rather liked the look of those completely "over the top bobbins" on Ebay at present...but absolutely not at a BIN of £ 45 plus P&P.....so....here are the ones I made the other day. A couple of bits of old cane from the garden.....some bits found in the "come in handy box" in the garage...some Pipers silk from a drawer in the study and an old tin of varnish...oh yes...and two hair clips "borrowed" from my wife's bathroom shelf. It took about 15 minutes or so to cut....sand.....whip and glue and then dip the "bobbins" in the old varnish tin. Total new cost = Zero !

Are they traditional ? Probably not but they made me laugh and they work as well !

Nice and considerably cheaper than £45. If they work, that is all you need

Was there not a set on Ebay last week for £60 or did I dream it :Hahaha:

Chevin - I think you will find there were indeed some on Ebay last week at £ 60 and that they are now on ebay at £ 45 - so no you did not dream it - but still way way too much at £ 45 in my opinion....

I do fear that there are those on eBay who are milking us traditionalist fans.

Excellent......liking those....and they float !

Always good to have a choice.....cane for carp....cork for tench and balsa for those particularly crafty large eels !
