Just arrived with me, in this mornings post, from the excellent Coch-y-Bonddu Books is this 3 volume set, "The Art of Angling" edited by Kenneth Mansfield, first published by The Caxton Publishing Company Limited in 1957 (my edition published in 1960).

Bound in blue leatherette, it comprises in total just shy of 1200 pages of articles on all aspects of angling from coarse to sea (with around 150 photographs), and by some of the best names to be found in print.

For example, there are chapters on "Carp and Carp Fishing" and "Rod Making" by Richard Walker, "Angling for Crucian Carp" by 'Faddist,' "Cooking Sea Fish" by Ambrose Heath, "English Angling Literature" by Mr. Mansfield himself, "Grayling and Grayling Fishing" by E. Horsfall Turner ... the list is long and enthralling.

Enough here to keep even the most ardent reader occupied, I think.

And the cost of this cornucopia ? Ten whole British Pounds, plus three pounds for postage and packing !!!

A fraction over a penny per page. Can't be bad. Glad you like it Ashby. It's a set of books we always have in stock as seemingly every personal angling library we buy has a set of these. The publishers must have sold a great number. I very much hope you enjoy the read.

Just treated myself by ordering a very good condition 1957 edition of these three volumes ( although rather more expensive than AC's excellent bargain price) - looking forward to them arriving.

Ok ... Ok ... so I'm cheap !!!

Enjoy, Sir ... I think you will be pleased. I'm already reading 'Kingfisher' on bream for the second time, and 'Faddist' on crucians for the third time !
