Arlesey Lake was in Bedfordshire, this is where Richard Walker fished and designed and perfected the Arlesey Bomb for fishing in deep water for perch. The lake is sadly not there anymore, the former clay pit was filled in and is apparently now a land fill site. I wonder what Dick would have thought about this.

Does anyone have any photographs they could upload of Arlesey Lake.

I'll have a look around and see what I can dig up....excuse the pun!!!

I wonder if anyone knows...when they drained the lake, did they find any large carp? Walker always claimed there was a forty in there...

Sorry, but I'm going to 'blow' yet another myth.
Dick, shall we say, reinvented the Arlesey Bomb. Give me a few hours and I'll find Dick's letter to me where it explains that someone else discovered it first.

Also for those that have it can I refer you to 'Successful Angling' by Walker, Taylor, Falkus and Buller [1977] page 57 Para 15.6 where the authors say [and I quote] ......" The Arlesey bomb, though not invented by RW., was redesigned and popularised by him in the early 1950s..................etc.,etc.,"
