Making Split cane rod rests

Can anyone tell me how one goes about making spit cane rod rests?
How does one attach all 3 peices of cane to make a Y-shape??

If you enlarge the image you can see what I did with copper plumbers jointing bits or further down these were made by Dave austin I think he has the brass connectors made obviously with 3/8 thread

I think you can buy the 'Y' piece for landing net heads with push-in arms...I think that's what Dave Austin uses...?

Hopefully the photo is clear enough. All threads - male/female - are 3/8ths. I have several versions - one with brass threaded fittings glued within a hardened rubber "boss" - which I think were the very early versions of the split cane rests quite a few years ago - and in more recent times the solid brass boss as shown in this particular photo.
