what are your favourite fishing quotes?
Re: what are your favourite fishing quotes?
Not so much a quote as a statement.
Jeremy Wade commenting on some on early research reading that our very own Bootie, when looking into the prospects for Golliath Tiger fishing, discovered in the writings of one Dr. Henry Gillet.
"Gillet's words provoke, then confirm, our worst fears. Like those of the Ramanga valley, this tiger has a taste for human flesh. Just bathing in the river carries the risk, we are told, of the sudden loss of genitles"
I shuddered when I read that passage and it's One I'll never forget just for the shear WTF ! eye popping terror of it.

He might have done had he not heeded Dr Gillet's warnings.

"A blind man would like to see that"!
My late Grandfather George Ernest Harrison's favourite and often repeated quote in all manner of subjects.

And when the clouds depart And the path is clear, Follow your head, follow your heart And should you reach paradise before me. Mine's a lager
R Hutchinson 1983 From The Carp Strikes Back
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Fishing rod in one hand - fresh caught tuna sandwich in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!"

Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

"Nobody's going to get off a galloping horse to look at that". A favourite of my grandmother if you worried about a speck of dirt or a button missing off a shirt - you know, trivial things.
Best fishing quotes - "How you fish alone is how you truly fish"
"People who know nothing about fishing know nothing about fishing"
and from Bernard Venables - "Fishing is a philosophy of earth and growth and quiet places"

"Nobody's going to get off a galloping horse to look at that" I love that quote Dave.
