Hi Dave,

Glad you like the old pics; I'll be listing a few more from time to time in the new Herts-Chiltern thread, that Mark has started.

Just to prove Bill did indeed sometimes remove his cap, here he is on the right, with Bob Buteux, at my then home in Uxbridge, shortly before he died in 1997.

Yes, nearly fifteen years ago now, and Bob and I still sorely miss him.

Shaun

I'll bet that was a quick snapshot as I know Len is very fussy when taking photos.
I remember him taking some shots of me at Savay and Len was checking for odd blades of grass etc. on the fish. This had to be about 1977/78….pre unhooking mat days. I learned a lot from Len that day which helped me with my early pictures.

Take care

Mike

Shaun & Mike,

NOT GUILTY YOUR HONOURS!

Forget who actually pressed the shutter on this one, but it wasn't me, honest!

Perhaps I'll remember to try editing out such errors in future - if I can find out how!

Len.

Uxbridge? I lived there too 1986 to 2004. Small world!

I still have a painting of old Uxbridge on the tackle room wall.

I'm very much from the old school [and I think you are too] please don't edit old photos. Leave photoshopping to the young'uns that understand all modern technology.
I love all the old pictures….warts and all. They all tell a story of 'our' history which won't come back. You and I were, I believe, some of the lucky ones that were fortunate to meet and indeed fish with some of the greats although we didn't know it at the time.
I think it incumbent of us to show pictures etc. to both entertain and educate those that follow……its all part of anglings history.

Take great care

Mike

Hi Mike,

I agree with almost every single word, excepting this: When fishing with some of the 'Greats' (no namedropping though) I recognised they were exceptional, but not just in catching fish; in my humble opinion, there was much more to them than that!

Thanks for the kind words to Shaun regarding my photography but, as you are probably aware, I was simply passing on Bill's lessons.

Good Luck and hope to see you soon.

Len.

Hi Nobby,

We lived in Park Road, Uxbridge from 1983 to 1999.

Right in the heart of exceptional-fishing country.

Hello All,

Found another picture from Bob Buteux's camera which would have been remiss of me not to include here.

This depicts yours truly getting his programme signed by one of the two most important guests attending, Pat Marston Walker; the other most important guest being Dick's mother, Mrs E.M. Walker, of course.

Behind are two further members of the Walker family. Image
