Re: 1988 Carp Society tribute conference to Richard Walker.
Hello All,
Glad you like the pictures.
Sorry, Shaun, can't recall who shot the video. What is remembered is getting my words mixed-up on it, and, no, I hadn't spent too long in the bar with Bill!
Here's another great Bob Buteux shot: Left to Right:
Peter Wheat, Pete Frost, Peter Stone, Kevin Clifford, Gerry Berth-Jones, Colin Dyson and Eric Hodson.
Besties,
Len.

Re: 1988 Carp Society tribute conference to Richard Walker.
Hi SK,
Bill Quinlan's signature is there - just above Kenny Hodder. Don't forget, W.D.Quinlan, and Bill's old-fashioned capital 'Q' like a '2'.
Found another group pic you all might like to see: From left to right:
Len Arbery, Bob Buteux, Tom Mintram, John MacLeod & Mike Mintram.
Besties,
Len.

Re: 1988 Carp Society tribute conference to Richard Walker.
Here is another line-up at the Walker Memorial 'Do' in 1988.
Left to right:
John MacLeod, Billy Walkden, Mike Wilson, Tom Mintram and Rex Elgood.
Note: A sherry glass looks like a pint pot in Little Billy's hand.
Besties,
Len.
Ps. Might have a another one-or-two if you'd like to see them? L.

The history of the 'Dagenham Lake' is covered in some detail in Chapter Six of 'A History of Carp Fishing'.Ljm183 wrote:
Gaz the lakes at the Ford Works Know as Dagenham Breach.
It was a friend of mine's grandfather who, in 1932, proposed in the club's first General Meeting (Becontree and District Angling Society) that the lease on the lake be taken and it was stocked shortly thereafter with 200 carp (amongst other fish). Every time I shake his hand I think of the part his grandfather unknowingly played in creating a piece of history; no less than Walker's first twenty amongst other record-shakers at the time!
(This is a great thread; thanks to those who have provided the photos)

Doug Wood and the late Len Head.
To save confusion, he said, Len Head always called me 'Archie'. Yet another friend I miss a lot.
