The best in my youth was Sylcast. I once witnessed a pal of mine stop and turn a sailing dinghy with 11lb b.s. Sylcast!
That’s a trip down memory lane, it seemed that most carp anglers in the ‘70s used Sylcast, and usually in 11lb breaking strain. It was certainly strong stuff.

It is small wonder the old '11lb' Marco Sylcast had such a great reputation. It was 0.35mm diameter with a true breaking strain of around 17lbs!

Once Sundgidge took over the marketing of it, they re-classed the 11lbs to 0.32mm and the new 'Profish' Sylcast is only 0.30mm at 12lb b.s.
