A bit more progress;

Both joints glued up and cleaned up ready to fit ferrules.

Luckily, I had a ferrule of the correct size for the butt, but had to make a matching one for the tip.

Finish turned and just the splints to cut with a razor saw before fitting.

Fantastic .... it's really great seeing this rod come to life . I appreciate you sharing this and will look forward to it being completed and possibly , hopefully even fished with .

Credit where credit's due, you really are making a great job of this and that ferrule is excellent.

I would encourage all of you to have a go at making your own rod from scratch, it's very satisfying.
If I can help in any way, please ask. It's not an easy process to begin with, but it's really not that difficult either.
It doesn’t come across as ‘look what I’ve done’ in the slightest. I’ve been following this with great interest as I do with most of these tackle-making threads and I’m astounded by the talent you and others who do this kind of thing possess. I’d love to make a rod of my own, even a float would be nice, but being all fingers and thumbs when it comes to practical stuff, there’s no chance of that ever happening. That makes it all the more fascinating to observe people who can do it, doing it.

Further progress;

All brass rod furniture blued, button turned from greenheart, script applied in indian ink (the usual nightmare, took 4 attempts), whipped in dark olive silk, varnished (bled a bit on some of the whippings, but I can live with it), rod bag made.

The finished rod weighs a tad over 12 oz's, about the same as the original.
How does it feel, compared to the original? completely different...much crisper, with a faster recovery.
Can't wait to take it down the river before the season ends, if it ever stops raining here in Somerset.

Thank you Gentlemen for your encouragement and kind remarks during this build, much appreciated :Hat:
