Mark you are a lucky man.
There is a cane rod in one of my local charity shops but alas it is a boat rod by the look of it.

A very nice find Mark.
I spend a lot of time looking through charity and second hand shops but never really find much of interest, Ebay has a lot to answer for.

Nice find, Mark! It looks like a late one that has been re-rurbished with 'twist' silk and tippings. I think it's a late one as it looks to have black anodised reel bands that have been polished down to shiny aluminium again, giving it a rather nice antique look.
Your luck might be in still further..looking warm tomorrow.....you just might catch!

Re: I couldn't believe my luck
Very nice find, Mark, well done. I have lately started to find my way into the various charity shops in my neighbourhood. Mainly in the hope of spotting a reel or box of floats or possibly a nice fountain pen (another of my little obsessions). Nothing as yet... However, if anybody is in the Cannock area there are a few trout fishing books in one of the charity shops there.

Doesn't the metallic clanking from your trousers scare the fish away? You lucky so and so
