The biggest regret Chris has in life, although they had much correspondence between each other.

Dick Walker's houses (Google street view except first photo which is from the Biggleswade Chronicle)

Is this selection correct?

The inscription on the plaque on No.32 Fishponds Road in Hitchin reads: ‘Richard Stuart Walker, Celebrated Angler, Author, Journalist, Broadcaster was born here.’ (May 29 1918)

I wonder if the people living in these houses realise just who use to live there.

Which house was it Martin where you interveiwed Dick in his Library.

I think the Biggleswade photograph is incorrect. If memory serves (30 years since I was there), it was 37 Ivel Gardens and was definitely a house not a bungalow.

Nice pics SK. I take it someone else uses Dick's study now as he wouldn’t have had a flat screen monitor.

Perhaps Mrs Walker still uses the study for correspondance.

Ah, thanks for that. I was two out with the house number but I've corrected it now. The house shown does not look 30 years old, could it be a newish build on the original site?

SK, Those photographs are phenomenal, I guess we've all seen photos of odd bits of RW's study but never in so much detail and breadth. I'll always recall reading in AT (when? - late sixties possibly) when Dick moved into his new house and he wrote that the back door to the bank of the river was "....exactly twenty nine feet". So precise, so Walker.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Glad you like them Weyfarer, I was sent them by a freind, Steve Holland. He is friends with Bob Buteux and gets invited along on various things. These pictures he took when he was invited to lunch at the house after such an event.
