This is a very nice project to restore with only polishing i did a few off them before and they where in a very bad condition (see the pictures before and after )

your reel possible will look much better when you clean it up with other materials like very fine steel wool, scotch brite, 1200 grid waterproof sandingpaper and Brasso to get a nice steel look
It is a lot off work but will pay off at the end

A few years later and my Aerial is a bit cleaner and Garry Mills put in a new Grub screw and new handles and did some tweeks here and there . Not the prettiest of reels , quite unusual looking infact , but a good user

I saw this reel on Sunday and it's a great rescue job. It should last another seventy years now.
