Hi, it's 11ft. Yes I think it would be a great salmon spinning/worming rod

It is a lovely rod, I have one myself with a trumpet shaped handle and maroon whippings one of the first that Andrew made when he was starting on his rod making venture

I see some hefty lumps in your net - how did it handle those. ?

The Abu reel is similar to mine and I wondered what yoyr thoughts are using thrm together. I will be fishing the trent more thus summer but I wont be using silly weight sized swim feeders.

I see the river in you picture is similar to the trent, it woukd be helpful if it is the river whether you noticed any issues with the rod.

Hi, I wrongly christened it surface fishing for carp. I hadn’t adjusted the drag correctly on my Abu reel resulting in the fish not being able to take line. Whilst I fumbled with the drag, I can remember the carp circling in front of me as the rods powerful butt section stopped the carp from running. I was wincing at the time but in hindsight the rod had tremendous backbone. I’m trying unsuccessfully here not to say all the cliched things about rods.

The rod balances well with my Abu, Mitchell 300 or wide drum speedia. The river in the pic is the Ribble. The rod casts a 2oz feeder but I wouldn’t be able to fish with in the main flow if the river was up as it wouldn’t hold bottom. The Ribble bed is a maze of bedrock gullies where the fish gather, but I’m always learning new secrets.

The barbel in the pic was caught just a few rod lengths out. After a recent trip with my friend who was catching chub close in with his MKIV, I’ve been inspired to approach the river differently and have re discovered my love of cane.

That said, his MKIV did snap in two at one point..
