I went and had a waggle, the blank did seem original, all the rings had been changed some while ago, the cane was straight, ferrule was good and it was the correct length but the worrying thing for me was the wording repaired not so much the writing as what it implied although I couldn't see anything obvious.

I also think it was more than enough to pay for a rod with no label and the words 'repaired' written in ink.

I think you're probably right though, that it will end up with a new identity...shame really.

Hi Gentlemen, I bought that rod you are discussing.
I won't get to see it until September when I return to London.
I did all the checks as best I could and it seems like a Craftversa that has been rewhipped , as some of the rings are in the wrong
places. But it has Milward stamped onto the butt fitting and black sliding reel fittings and the correct ferrules. So from the photos it looks like a Craftversa to me. The writing "LTDA repair service" may refer to the rewhip, from memory LTDA was the London Tackle Dealers Association.

What kind of 'new identity' could it assume?

I think I've bought a Craftversa, but if I'm wrong then that's just tough.
Best regards
Mem

Hi Mem,

I am pleased that you bought the 'Craftversa' and I hope it gives you much pleasure.
I have no doubt that it is indeed a Craftversa and I am sure you're correct about the London Tackle Dealers Association.

Regarding my comment about a 'New identity', I was implying that I thought it likely that it would acquire a 'New' Milwards label and rod name.

Please accept my apologies, I could have chosen my words more carefully...

Hi Crucian,
no need to apologise my friend, I was just curios as to what that meant.
Assuming it is a an original Craftversa would it be a crime to put a modern Milwards sticker back onto it?
I wouldn't add any other inscriptions just the Milwards sticker.
Best regards
Mem

I used the Craftversa for the first time today, it feels a bit top heavy and has a knocking ferrule.
But it has a lovely action and I christened it today with this 2lb plus perch.
Best regards
Mem
