I think all of the Thames tributaries are crawling with the bas***d things. Trotting usually solves the problem to a degree, but if you leger and all is quite then you know big chub or perch are about.

Sorry to have to tell you Paul that there are Signal crayfish in the North Wey right up in Alton.

Have "caught" them from the river itself & from a club pond [on the bottom of the industial estate] that's connected to it.

Also had one in Farnham Park @ two years ago.
