Thanks for the order, yes I do remember you buying the Richard Carter reel when I had the shop at Castle Donnington thats got to be more that 12 years ago now.You will have the rod tomorrow please let me know what you think.As I said I have another 2 splitcane barbel rods for sale that are very much a Barbus Maxmus 2pc plus handle type rod a 11ft 1lb tc and a 12ft 1.5lb tc for £250.00 each real bargains encluding a new thick drill rod bag.email if you are interested email on s.middleton602@btinternet.com

Well it's arrived and it is stunning…

Powerful but supple with a beautifully lively bend down into the handle and in no way telegraph pole like as some powerful rods can be. Any other seller would describe the condition as mint. Steve modestly noted it as 'very good'. The quality fittings are subtle, the silk whippings look understated in very deep green with fine red tippings and the varnish an impeccable glass like gloss but in no way too thick. The handle is perfectly shaped and proportioned for my smallish hands. I suspect it's been used for a few trips. The ferrule has a nice 'pop' and comes with a lovely dark onion stopper. At £225 it has to represent fantastic value.

I'd say I'd want a single rod rest to support the rod whilst holding it as the length and power means it does have a bit more weight to the tip than a MkIV but it should be perfect for my later season jaunts when the weeds are a bit thicker.

I'm a happy chap.

I certainly will, fingers crossed. The pool where I'm going to be using this rod has a good head of lean hard fighting commons that do look fabulous.

Looks good to me, too.

Let us know how you get on fishing with it.

£225 fills an average car tank @ 3 times these days!!! I'm not saying that that's not a decent sum of money but I think that puts it in perspective - & the rod certainly looks like it's worth that.

Alternatively you could have invested your money in @ 60 odd pints of pub lager.......!!

I'd settle for the rod.

Splendid, it does look a lovely rod.

I too am the rpuod owner of a Chapman carp rod. Mine is a 550 and is probably half a pound lighter than oyours in the curve. It too bends all the way through, seriously can't wait to try it out, and I have some perfect waters in mind too.....

hello built bamboo lovers, chapmans build nice cane, ive worked with it for many years, fosters used alot when i worked there, they make some nice 11ft 2pce carp barbel rods,
