So they were originally in Redditch too!

Yes Nobby. Moved following the purchase by Grice and Young.
Interesting to see how much wider a selection of tackle they supplied. I'd only seen a couple of rods and Bob Brookes' float previously.

Another Woodfields tackle item. Surprising they're so little known yet had a decent choice of tackle.

I think Grice and Young may have bought-out or absorbed Woodfield when they moved to Christchurch. Their factory in Somerton was called the Agila Works...the Agila being a Woodfield reel:

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that factory was near where the drive through McDonalds I always use when fishing the Avon is now!.........in what was apparently called Penton High Street, though what 'Penton' was isn't clear......

Nobby,

If you look at the advert I included in my original post regarding Woodfields, the photo of their factory is the same one as the photo for Grice & Young in your post, the have just cut off the information underneath the photo.

Regards,
John.

So it is....I guess they bought them out then...or at least the Christchurch arm.

Bottom right of the PDF...Christchurch Engineering Ltd. Liquidated 1980
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/iss ... 0/data.pdf

I wonder if that's Grice and Young??

Some of the images here lead me to believe that Grice and Young made the Agila reel too.....the 'engraving' ( actually cast in) is so like their other reels.

Interesting....a late offering I'd say...looks like those awful self-tapping screws in the two-screw centreboss.
