On a very similar theme I've caught them on Mozzarella . They seem to like softer baits in my experience.

I caught last week using maggot ... and later on worm.

A small piece of cooked mussel is useful on one or two of the crucian waters local to me. The bites tend to be far more positive than those on the traditional baits but beware little perch and eels!

on a water i fish i have had good days on punched crust and before some body says it no it wasnt my fist

The trick with Dairy Lea is to form it around the hook and then dangle it in the colder water to set before casting, otherwise it comes off too easily during the cast.

after i had managed to unwrap it it was past the moulding around the hook stage, really gloopy, maybe a bit of crumb would have made it usable :idea:

Sounds like it got a tad too warm. And yes, perhaps a little crumb would help.

i am now thinking that if i put the slices of cheese together and use a punch that would work

Make a Dairy Lea sandwich and punch that!! Also peanut butter works very well in punched sandwich.
