John,

Baldwins pond is in Loughton. if you turn into St Johns Road off the High St then do a right at the end into baldwins hill you cant miss it. once you get up to the Foresters Pub its opposite and down the hill.

Lost pond(Blackweir Pond) is further into the forest and Goldings is up the road. Have a look on google maps.

Bob,

Where abouts did you fish on Knighton Wood lake? I fancy trying the open path by the path where there are loads of lillies further out. full of crucians according to the forest keepers.

Bumped into a Ranger beside Wake Valley Pond....I was out with me Boy on a dog walk. He told me there were fish in there and as we spoke I saw a 15lb ish looking carp mooching about in the margins! He told me that there were fish in their and Baldwins and confirmed other comments on this and the Tenchthread on this fine forum.

I shall have a fish here and Baldwins in the summer.

Epping forest .Ill be back with me Avon in the Summer

Bob,

I know exactly theswim you mean, I saw about 3 promising ones when I went over there pre-season last year.

John,

The rock fall is a decorative feature at Knighton Woods Pond (have a look on Flickr)

Most of the forest ponds are pretty shallow 4/5' at most in places and mostly 3' alot of the time.

Wake Valley is the deepest about 16/17' at the deepest point. I've never fished it it gets busy at the weekend and swims can be at a premium, there's a no fishing area at the far end which of course looks great. The forewst rangers are a good bunch, not like your normal, you should have been here last week lake bailiffs. Still a few very good carp in Wake apparently.

Gaz

I spent easter DIYing and will be doing the same for most of the time until June to build up brownie points with the Mrs.I itntend to have an explore with my little boy in the next couple of weeks and actually visit Lost pond (Blackweir is its other name) and Goldings Hill.

Earlier season meet up would be a great idea, I'm up for it.

Sorry another couple of questions Gents.... Goldings hill pond is that close to Earls path because I can only find one of them two in that area on google maps and where is the pond in Knightons wood?

There you go Ive done it again.....Found far more venues than Ive got time to fish. But the forum and google maps rteally does enable you to open up and research all these venues with out getting out the house

John,

You carry on up Baldwins Hill past the Foresters pub then Baldwins Hill meets Goldings Hill do a left and the pond is a little way up on the left hand side.

Knighton Woods pond is a bit more difficult, the sat photo on google maps is rubbish as half the wood is in shadow, the map is better and shows the lake. when I did a recce last year i walked from Roding Valley Station, Come out of station turn left into Farm way and follow that until it bears left into Monkhams lane, there is a path into the wood there and if you follow that the lake is on your left after a couple of hundred yards. There is a car park at the other end of this path past the lake.

I live in Collier Row in Romford and my local tackle shop now is Specialist Tackle.

Many moons ago I used to use Bromages in Goodmayes and Avenue Cycles in Gants Hill both now sadly gone.
