NE - films of books usually disappoint. Brendon Chase is set in the - what? - 1920s. Colonel Hensman serving in India, the doctor's car with acetylene headlamps. More horses and carts than cars. A twelve-year-old buying ammunition. A book like this cannot be modernised on film.

Brendon Chase and Pool of the Black With for me: though his auto-biographical "Child Alone" was much enjoyed by my middle son Barney. But he's a little odd....

PM sent HovisHovis wrote:I have read “little grey men” to my lad on a few occasions now but was wondering if any of you chaps could recommend and more children’s books by BB (or maybe others). It’s a delightful read that captivated both of us. I would like to continue reading to the little fella until he is old enough to start reading them for himself and this sort of book is perfect.

To enjoy our sport as it should be enjoyed, our surroundings must be beautiful, for your true angler enjoys nature as much as he enjoys fishing. "BB"

Definitely shouldn't be modernised in terms of changing the era, but re-made to a better standard and it could be a real classic in my opinion.Nailbourne wrote:NE - films of books usually disappoint. Bookfinder.com covers ABE books. Amazon books seems to be taking over from bookfinder as it now links in second hand booksellers.
