Many thanks Ian. This is very helpful and I will enjoy trying these things out. Ive never done oils and flavours before but these days I’ve got more time to try.
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

The "washed out" baits I am referring to are those round or oval things that carp are given in their thousands to eat!

I was given the book "Through a Fish's Eye; An Angler's Guide to Fish Behaviour" (by Mark Sorin & John Clark) with an intro by Fred J Taylor.
Very interesting on smell - sight - and taste! Now only about £4 if you can find one or two!

A couple of updated revised and new editions available as well.
