Nice one, never had a carp that size but I'm edging closer. I patiently await my turn and hopefully I'll succeed using the 500.

I think the 500 and other detachable butt Chapmans rods started in the early 60’s with the ‘new look’ range of less decorated rods with more basic fittings, no intermediates, cheaper ferrules. Price lead rods but always with good cane. When they stopped is a good question, they were still building the blanks and a few finished rods up to when the factory close, and John had enough blanks to have made them for years to come, if he wanted, or was able

Wish he had made a few more Fred J Taylor Roach rods - been trying to track a decent one down for a while. Missed one on ebay on Saturday - the bidding closed when I was talking to the boiler man and I missed it by a tenner...

I think they had the 2 piece rods previously this was for the 3 piece models.

Chapman,s price list increase dated 19th November 1964. Which shows the rods made before that date including the 500.
