Fatty fished here with an Evans London Pole and did quite well with the roach and tench. Did even better on the river with a barbel. It was touch and go but the pole survived, as did Fatty!
Michael was a splendid host and even seemed interested in the ravings about pies.....he is a nice man.

Yeah ...Fatty gave Michael half a pie which he liked and prompted a lively discussion on the merits of the different types of vessel to cook them in. Aluminium or foil or the new rubber heat proof containers. He seemed happy to hear Fatty used a traditional wooden pork pie cooking utensil but not so keen on the new rubber pie dishes used by the trade and a certain Mole for most other pies.
By the by his original bakery was in North London near a certain well known football club; Bagels were his stock in trade. Buns and fancies were also a lucrative line too!
After catching his pet Barbel, Fatty did not have the heart to tell him, so didn't. Michael was very excited by my capture of a near two pound roach whilst we sat together talking up the merits of a good pork pie and the restorative powers of such. His thoughts mirrored mine on such vitally important matters.
