F.T. Williams - The Service II - Thoughts Please

Post by MrCrabtree »

I have just acquired this F.T.Williams rod in a bundle of other rods.
Above the label it states The Service II.
I cannot find any reference to this model. It is approximately 9' in length, all eyes are lined, spigot type ferrule, speckled whippings and comes with appropriate size F.T.Williams bag.
In my very humble opinion it looks original.
Any thoughts on this rod will be greatly appreciated.
Mike

That's a nice looking rod Mike. Probably intended as a spinning or lure rod and aimed at the Pike or Salmon angler but these days it would also be more than suitable as a stalking rod for Carp etc.

To me, "The Service" seems to indicate that it was intended for use by Servicemen. Usually service rods are multi piece rods, four or five smaller sections for easier transport.

F T Williams produced some lovely rods with top quality cane and fittings.

Wal.
