Yes, there is or was a playing field alongside the river and also it was possible to get around the back of the factories. There is also a small river that runs out of Cawthorne Park near to the cricket field that runs down to join the Dearne in that area. But, the best fishing was around the Miller's Arms and the nearby road bridge. It was possible to follow the river downstream for a hundred yards or so to a water board property. After that it becomes more of a coarse fishing water.
