Eley Rod???

Post by Kingfisher15 »

Hello Folks
Anyone know about the 'Eley' rods.
This is a lovely 10'6" 2 piece cane fly rod, with spare top.. Marked 'Eley'. Dated 4.5.84. #8-9. It has a name R Self on it which I presume may have been a personalised client.
A friend says it may be from a bespoke English builder called David Eley, but I simply don't know. Not often stumped, but I am on this one.
Does anyone have any wisdom? it certainly looks a beautiful quality rod, with fabulous attention to detail?
Regards

Kingfisher15 Have you googled Eley fly rod ?

Iv found

" David Eley who made Garrison copies in his Hampshire workshop."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There,s also a listing from Ebay with a sale price of £430 with the same writing on as yours

So i would say a yes a David Eley rod.
