Just added to the thicket and an itch scratched at last.
My desire to own a whole cane butt rod has been fulfilled at last.
A Priory of Bournemouth 11' arrived today.
No name, but I don't think that is unusual for this maker.

11' Whole cane butt Priory rod
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

I have one exactly like that but sadly my tip section is broken. It was a nice rod until that happened. I hope enjoy yours.

I saw this Steve, it looks nice, will be a wizard style rod, Of all the priory rods I have seen, they are well made and powerful, with the Dorset Avon & Stour in mind.
Enjoy

Most of the whole cane butt Priory rods are more suitable for nowadays barbel than chub as they can be very beefy...

No doubt about it being a "Throop" type "rod despite no transfer. The stepped butt caps have always had that tendency to go grey and the strange two ring mid section often causes comment.
I have both the whole cane and split cane versions and hope to add another whole cane version shortly. The full split cane version which follows the taper of the other two sections gives an indication of its power, not as evident on the whole cane version.
