Homers Flick-Em reel @ The Sporting Museum

Post by Fredline »

I came across a link to this picture while researching a thread for a Homers rod. It was a link submitted by Nobby in a thread entitled "Anyone know what this is?"
The Sporting Museum on Granville Island, Vancouver unfortunately shut in 2008 but their website is still up and running and is well worth a stroll through.
It can be found here. Just enter 66.51.163.9 on Google.
I bought the Homers Flick-em pictured when the museum sold off all of its exhibits. It is like no other Homers I have ever seen. Beautifully engineered with a very basic drag via a central wing nut. It carries the appropriate stamps and the classic brass fine wire line guard. It is finished off with 2 domed all black horn handles. It will not win any prizes for spin duration but then no Homers would. Overall a worthy entry to any fishing tackle museum. ImageImageImageImageImage
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Cor, I like that Fredline. Would look a treat on my Homers rod. Great find!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

I like the lineguard very neat indeed
