Stantons
I have a Stanton that I,m not sure about. As you can see from the pics ..........
The one on the left is the Stanton as we know it.The one on the right has no label on the back, has a lot larger handles, and the foot plate has rounded ends.
Do you think this is a customised reel?
Thanks gents

Re: Stantons
The one without the Stanton sticker has had the handles altered to suit the user - slightly more proud of the drum and screwed/bolted in.

Re: Stantons
The rivet handles are the early fit examples they are also short and stubby , the screw fit are later.
If you Google adcock stanton you will see both types .

I have a very early one and a later one and they both have screw in handles, the earlier one has a more rounded ends to the foot where as the newer one has square ends to the foot.

Been meaning to post this for a while. Anyway...
Take hold of one Adcock Stanton
Place in cardboard box.
Post box and pin to Garry Mills at Mill Tackle (www.milltackle.co.uk)
Receive reel back from Garry in record time (mine took 3 days!)
Take reel from box.
Look at nice reel with new fancy handles. Mmmmmm....
Posted Image
Send Garry £30 for the privilage!
:D :D :D
Now... how the hell do you embed pics into a thread??????
edit note: all you do to make the image show up rather than the link is to place 'image tags' around the link to tell the forum software it is a picture. All I did with yours was at the end. Newt"""

Re: Stantons
Stantons were sold to anglers in many places including the local pubs. Its quite possable they were made to individual requirements, short handles, long handles and no handles at all.
The short stubby handles are reminiscent of the older Reynolds reels. The later models also show a plastic foot.

Re: Stantons
My Stanton bought new in the seventies has rivetted handles and a squarish foot like the reel on the left. The back looks like the one on the right and it never had a label.
