Re: Homemade Blackthorn catapult
The end caps are from my local hardware shop 15mm copper pipe ends. I drilled a 5mm hole in them and fitted a small eyelet.
I drilled the arms 12 mm deep and with the elastic fitted a 12mm metal rod inside . Evefythjng glued with resin based glue and slid the copper caps over.

Looks good. Any chance of a quick sketch for clarification as to how the elastic is attached to the arms underneath the endcaps? TIA

Nice job BSC, I too would like a diagram of the way you fix the rubber in the ends if possible.

Thats a tall tecci order woodmagnet... all I can say is that having found a piece of blackthorn with arms arond 12-14 mm in diameter. I drilled carefully about 12mm deep into each arm.WoodMagnet wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2017 10:30 pm Nice job BSC, I too would like a diagram of the way you fix the rubber in the ends if possible.
The black elastic is around 5mm ... in order to strengthen it once its inside the wooden arm I cut a nail around 10mm and placed it into the end of the elastic and glued it.
When dry I glued the ends into the wooden holes in the arms.
When dry I slid over the copper ends and glued them into place.
Then I added the maggot cup.
Hope it helps
