Hmm! Dragon carp are not my favourite dealer. Have bought a couple of things from them and the quality was not good. Remember you only get what you pay for!!!

For just £24 it looks a nice bit of kit to me. At that price even if you had to do minor things to improve strength etc, I do not think you would go far wrong. Personally, I prefer the old ones, but.......

I think that looks the dogs! The stap looks a bit 'new' but I think the leather detail is a nice touch, not bad at all for the price

As I was working today very close to the Dragoncarp store in Spalding. I thought I'd nip in and have a look at these.
Suffice to say I left with my pocket money intact.

Ive had a couple of dragoncarp items in the past and the best by far was the Holland & Wilkinson Rotoglide centrepin reel, It outclasses some of the more expensive reels I have in my collection and use it frequently when trotting for Grayling.

Dragon is one of my favourite sites for butch naming. In the reel section alone we have: Wild; Typhoon; Raider; Monster; Equalizer (obviously a fan of 70s TV); Equalizer Supreme (Diana Ross with a big gun?); Pro (of course); Meteor; White Lightning (after the George Jones record?); Fury; Stand and Deliver (just love Adam Ant references); Supa and Big Mouth (Mitchell! Hang your heads in shame!!!!). Oh yes and Trinium for all you Stargate fans out there. I can't manage to list the ones in the rod and pole section without bursting into hysterical laughter so you'll have to look there yourself.
That 'Holland and Wilkinson' is a nice touch: old family firm, one big droopy moustache at least among the partners, succeeded fathers, grandfathers, greatgrandfathers etc etc, lots of dark wood, small drawers with brass handles and ancient windows in the shop located just off the High Street somewhere like Clitheroe, Settle or Moreton in the Marsh. Creels handwoven by old ladies who learnt the craft from their grans from sustainable something or other. Tweedy gents abound among the fantastically loyal customer base. Just like all those other fake 'brands' those morons in adland try to foist on you.
I do have a couple of their cheapo bite alarms though and have no complaints about them at all.
