Just had a quick look through Abe's list of the most searched for out-of-print books during 2013. Spotted two fishing books. J.R. Hartley I can just about understand but The Floatmaker's Manual in at number 47? A bit specialist that one. Perhaps a sign of an increasing number of people wanting to make their own floats?

Re: Most searched for out-of-print books
A few months ago copies were pushing close to £100 which seems an enormous amount for this book. Of course once people started noticing that then more and more copies came to light and so the price has come down quite a bit. Say £30 - £50 for a decent copy.ImAllStokedUp wrote:"in at number 47"..... you should be on Top of the Pops Luke.

I haven't noticed any hardback copies up for sale lately but I don't think they are of any greater value than the paperback. Certainly, when we had a stock of both editions, we used to sell them at a similar price to each other.

Re: Most searched for out-of-print books
It is a good job that these books are not fetching silly amounts of money as it would not be too long before the fakers move in. I collect old bottles, flagons etc and common glass bottles are being purchased and new and rarer details are being embossed on them with a process called Flow jetting? I think it is called. Rare coloured glass cottage inks are being blown/made and they have fooled some normally quite cute collectors. When this happens the price of everything comes down as people become wary of buying etc. lets hope our items stay affordable and there is no need for this greed.

Re: Most searched for out-of-print books
I think the number of float makers has increased as can be seen on th'ebay by the sales.
Started when I was about 15 and waxed & waned ever since. My angling colleague did/does it for the Anglers Mail and other publications.
