Milward's "Feartherlite" Collection
Restoration is finally complete on my collection of Milward "Featherlite" rods, comprising, the 10ft 6in., 12ft., and 14ft. versions.
A couple of points of interest ...
In case anyone wondered, the tip sections of the 14ft. and 12ft. versions are the same length, but the tapers vary ... it wasn't a cost cutting exercise using the same tip. The 14ft. is 2.6 mm at the tip to 7.7 mm at the ferrule, while the 12ft. version is 2.6 mm to 6.4 mm at the same points.
I hadn't noticed before taking the photograph, but the transfer on the 12ft. version says "Milward Featherlite" whilst the other two are "Milward's Featherlite."

I hadn't realised just how much thicker the reed was on the 14 foot Senior Featherlite.
Milwards did say in their catalogue how they had modified the TwinTaper Tip when they brought out the Senior models.
I once had a 12 foot version and the transfer image was set upon a black hexagon. I've never been able to find out if that meant anything or not.

I do love the Featherlights. They do exactly what is says on the tin. I have a 9ft (or thereabouts) version that looks and works a treat with a 4" Trudex.
Nice collection there, AC.
