Thirty years ago my 5 year old daughter's first fish was a perch followed by five others and five gudgeon on her one and only fishing trip.
She didn't want to go any more as she had told all the boys at school just how easy it was!

What truly wonderful photos they are, inspirational. I hope I am still about in thirty years time to reflect back on our day's fishing last weekend (before you think I am being morbid I should state the reality that a fair bit of water flowed over my back before we started out on the journey that is children!).
I don't mind if my boys don't fish (although it would be nice) so long as they do something that takes them places, with wonderful companionship, and makes them dream. Last night W said (I asked him if he was OK as he was looking pensive), "I am dreaming of catching a big roach".
I thought to myself, I know that feeling well my son!
