The Gudgeon

Post by Maggot's Dad »

Hi all! :hat:
Gudgeon....nows there's a fish that always brightens my day. I love them. Such a tenacious little fish with that wonderful steel blue in it's scales (the ones I catch from the River Itchen have anyway). I've had some real monsters in my 50 years of fishing and they have, at times, made a world of difference to me. I have had a few close calls in my match fishing days when a gudgeon was all it took for me to win!
Lovely creatures....I'm always glad to see one! :huray:

This Lea fish took a big grain of wheat on a size 12! Got to love them.

I once had a gudgeon on The Avon that was hooked fair and square on a size 6 and 16mm halibut pellet. Ambitious little blighter, I'm sure they are all wannabe barbel.
