There's something pleasing about a specimen Gonk.

It's obvious that those who replied feel the same but don't ask Fatty where the nickname comes from......just always called them by that name all my life.

More Gonk pics to follow in the near future on the purchase of yet another camera as the latest model has ceased to function. Cameras and a certain Mole just do not get on.

As ever,..........

Nice one. I do hope you used an unhooking mat.

That's a clocking gone Moley! Well done. Wouldn't need many of those for a decent 'fry up'!

A prime specimen moley. Have recently discovered that my little pond has a rather nice head of gonks. And far easier to catch than those Wiley old carp. :Hat:

stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

I've weighed a couple of 6 1/2 inchers at 2 1/2 ozs, so I'd say around three ounces, if it's at that stage where it stops being triangular in section and the shoulders square off.

All gonk hunters need a set of these:

they come up quite regularly on that online auction site, mine weigh up to 8 ounces but there are 4 ounce versions.
