Framing is going to make that into an absolutely smashing thing Leigh.
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

I think that the Field & Country endorsement on the advertisement is possibly the current "The Field" magazine first published in 1853

Amazing that it has survived

I wonder when they changed the name? That would narrow the dates down a bit.

That's very nice
There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.

Having found the advertisement of C. & R. Brooks I wanted to get to know more about them and the local fishing interest during that time.
In 1873, nine years before the tackle shop and manufacturing business was formed in 1884 they wrote a book titled:
A Complete Guide to the River & Sea Fishing in the Neighbourhood of Plymouth: Together with Plain Directions for Preparing, Preserving and Using Artificial Baits
I have ordered a modern copy of this book, but have seen an original online at an asking price of £100.
This was not the only family in Plymouth who were tackle dealers/ manufactures; there was the Hearders who had also produced a book which was titled.
J.N. Hearder & Son's Guide to sea fishing and the rivers of South Devon: and descriptive catalogue of the Prize River and sea fishing tackle, cricket, archery, croquet, umbrellas, parasols, &c
This was published around 1800 and I have seen an online seventh edition from 1875
Attached is a poor quality image of their river rod range – To note within the book, they inform of where pike can be caught in the rivers of Devon!
I will go and take some photographs of where these tackle shops once stood, the street does have some buildings remaining from that time period.
