First Landing net pole

Post by LlyrEdwards »

Hello All,

Just thought I would share my first full cane landing net handle that I made myself.
Nothing fancy, one piece and 5 ft in length. I made the flamed pattern random to show my personality  :Hahaha:

Great job!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

I couldn't find one to be honest so I ended up epoxying a 3/8 BSP hex nut to the inside of a brass hole ferrule. Works very well :)

That looks lovely - well done!

I have cut some lengths to practice with a view to making a landing net in due course and am looking for tips on how to prepare the cane. Do you remove the internal membranes that divides the cells and how do you dry the cane to stop it rotting over time?
