The Power Ball Controller

Post by Stour Otter »

Surface controller: For those of you who like to tinker making tackle, have a go with these 32mm, Luminous Glow in the Dark, Power Balls, spotted on Ebay. They make an ideal surface control float for pellets/dog biscuit , bread or marshmallows when surface fishing on still water or as a sight bob, free lining for those chub on the river. Simply glue a snipped off eyed shank, pushed into the ball and off you go. Weight 9 gms.
I tie on a loop paternoster on to the main line in the style of a "stop knot", then push the loop through the eye and around the back of the ball, this way you can alter the distance from bait to ball. A gentle lift into the fish is all you need. Missing the fish on a heavy strike, sends the ball back to you like something Mr. Barnes Wallis would be proud of.

The good angler is not the one with expensive equipment. Common sense, observation and trying to realize
what is happening above and below water will catch fish no matter what price equipment you fish with.

Never had that happen sir, although I've had the occasional header.
