Time on my hands.

Post by Crucian »

Recently, I hurt my back, which meant I needed to take time off work.

Not wishing to sit about as suggested, I have restored two rods, one of which was a hardy's 'No 1 All-round"
Being pleased with the way the rod turned out, it got me thinking...
Originally the rod, when purchased would have come in an aluminium tube, long since lost. I thought, why not have a go at making one, After all, I had all the time in the world.
After a bit of looking around on eBay, I soon had all the bits. A piece of 2" aluminium tube and a few scraps of leather.

Sorry if I've bored you, but I'm quite pleased with the result...

Pleased! I should Coco! That's superb
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Beautiful job Paul - really impressive.

It would be very interesting to learn more about the leatherworking aspect of the project - how did you cut the leather, do the stitching etc.

Cheers
Steve

All by hand Steve, and a bit of time on 'You tube'.

First of all Wal, you need to hurt your back, in order to get some time to spare...
Then look in an old Hardy's 'Bottom fishing' catalogue, decide what materials you need, namely, a piece of aluminium tube and a few scraps of leather.
And of course, a bit of enthusiasm for the task.
Thoroughly enjoyed it...
